School Counselor at Bryce Valley High
Position Announcement:
Garfield County School District is seeking a dedicated and student-centered High School Counselor to join our team at Bryce Valley High School beginning with the 2025-2026 school year. The ideal candidate will provide academic, career, and personal counseling services to students while fostering a supportive and positive learning environment. This position is in Tropic, Utah and may also require teaching responsibilities, depending on the needs of the school.
Salary:
Step & Lane will be determined based on the 2025-2026 Garfield County School District Certified Salary Schedule; competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications. This is a benefited position working 177-day contract/4 days a week; and includes retirement, health/life insurance & paid time off.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide academic advising and assist students in course selection and graduation planning.
- Offer career guidance, including college and career readiness support.
- Provide social and emotional counseling to support students’ well-being.
- Develop and implement programs to support student success.
- Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and parents to address student needs.
- Facilitate conflict resolution and peer mediation as necessary.
- Maintain accurate and confidential student records.
- Support standardized testing and student assessment efforts.
- Teach courses as assigned based on school needs.
- Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school events.
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in School Counseling or a related field.
- Valid Utah Professional Educator License with a School Counselor endorsement (or ability to obtain one).
- Experience working with high school students preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with staff, students, and families.
- Flexibility to teach classes if required.
