Eligibility and Qualifications
General qualifications—
Each board member must
- Be and remain a registered voter in the District;
- Maintain his or her primary residence within the local school board district from which the member is elected or appointed; and
- Take and sign the constitutional oath of office:
- “I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support, obey and defend the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution of Utah, and that I will discharge the duties of my office with fidelity.”

After the board member has taken and signed the oath of office, the oath shall be filed with the business administrator of the District.
Conflict of interest—
A member of the Board of Education may not, during the member’s term of office, also serve as an employee of the Board.
