Full-Time Instructional Coach/Reading Specialist

POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT:           

Garfield County School District is seeking a dedicated and skilled Instructional Coach/Reading Specialist to join our dynamic team beginning with the 2025-2026 school year. This role is integral to the development and implementation of effective instructional practices in all our schools. The successful candidate will work closely with teachers to enhance their teaching methods, aligning with the school and district goals, particularly in the areas of reading and literacy. This position will be district-wide but will mainly work with the Bryce Valley and Escalante communities and be assigned to one of those elementary schools. SALARY: 

Step and Lane will be determined based on the 2025-2026 Garfield County School District Certified Salary Schedule and applicable experience and qualifications. This is a benefited position, working 157-day contract/4 days a week; and includes retirement, health/life insurance & paid time off.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:         

  • Provide targeted professional development to teachers.
  • Facilitate collaborative learning opportunities for teachers.
  • Identify areas of improvement with teachers and provide necessary support and guidance.
  • Work closely with principals to meet school goals.
  • Manage the Reading Lab, ensuring the use of research-based curriculum and proper training.
  • Collaborate with K-3 teachers to enhance effectiveness and application of LETRS knowledge.
  • Set and coach teachers in achieving annual goals.
  • Ensure proper administration of Acadience Reading and Math Benchmarks, and regular progress monitoring.
  • Analyze and interpret data to identify strengths and weaknesses, advising on adjustments to Tier 1 instruction.
  • Oversee student participation in online programs.
  • Manage the Early Learning Plan.
  • Attend State Literacy and Math Meetings.
  • Oversee ordering of district-sponsored curriculum.
  • Coordinate with all instructional coaches, including conducting quarterly meetings.
  • Work closely with the superintendent.

QUALIFICATIONS:                              

  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in elementary education.
  • A valid teaching certificate.
  • At least 4 years of teaching experience at the elementary level.
  • LETRS Certified.
  • At least a Level I Reading Endorsement.
  • Strong coaching and mentoring skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to analyze data and use it to inform instructional decision-making.
  • Knowledge of current research and best practices in the field of education.
  • Possession of, or willingness to obtain, an instructional coaching endorsement.
