Exemption from Participation in the Utah Retirement Systems (URS)

The following positions may be exempted from participating in the Utah Retirement Systems:

Elected Officials:           Board of Education Members

Appointed Officials:             Superintendent of Schools

Business Administrator

Utah State Retirement Systems (URSI Eliaibilitv for Participation — Elected and Appointed Officials

Board of Education Members (elected officials) in the Garfield County School District are considered to be part-time positions and do not meet the eligibility requirements for Tier 1 or Tier 2 participation.

Appointed Officials are required to meet the eligibility requirements established by URS for Tier 1 or Tier 2 participation.
