Truth-in-Taxation

Dear Patrons:

The Garfield County School District is seeking to increase taxes for the upcoming school year.  The purpose is to collect an additional $207,000 for the replacement of two elementary schools: one in Bryce Valley and the other in Panguitch. The effect on a residence valued at $150,000 would be $28.55 per year.  The effect on a business valued at $150,000 would be $51.90 per year.

The decision is in part due to the loss of over $500,000 in federal Secure Rural Schools funds for the current and upcoming school years.

Your input would be appreciated.  Please join us for a public Truth-in-Taxation meeting in the music room at Escalante High School located at 800 East Highway 12 in Escalante, on August 17 at 6:00PM.   If you are unable to attend, please contact Business Administrator Patty Murphy at patty.murphy@garfk12.org or at 435-676-1302 to provide your input.

Thank you for the support of the Garfield County School District students and staff.
